Pro Tips: How To Maintain Your Car’s Brake Pad & Make It Last Longer

Are you looking for ways to maintain your brake pad? If so, then you’re in the right place. Taking steps to maintain your brake will help make it last longer. This is good practice, as you don’t have to change your pads again so soon.

We also have a very special surprise for all kaki kereta below. So, make sure you stay tuned until the very end of this article. With that said, let’s dive in now!

What Is A Brake Pad?

The main purpose of a brake pad is to help you, as the driver, to slow down your car. So, how does it work? To put it simply, when you press down on the brake pedal, the brake pads will make contact with the brake discs which are located in your car’s hydraulic braking system, and this will cause your car to brake.

If your car doesn’t have a good brake pad, then it would be a nightmare because the brakes will no longer work so well anymore. To avoid accidents on the road, we will recommend some tips below to help you maintain your brake pad in the long-run.

Practical Ideas To Help Maintain Your Brake Pad

  1. Avoid any unnecessary heavy braking when driving

Heavy braking usually happens when we don’t give ourselves enough time to apply the brakes. It also happens when we drive very closely to the car in front of us. So, to avoid using heavy braking, it’s always good for you to keep a good distance from the car in front of you.

Yes, not every situation on the road is the same. Some cars might be moving faster like on a highway, and in other places, the cars might be moving slower. So, you’ll need to use good judgement in different situations.

2. Drive your car at a slower speed during heavy traffic

Another common situation where you might often use heavy braking, is during places where there’s heavy traffic. When there’s heavy traffic, most cars will stop more frequently, and also go at a slower speed.

As such, it is good practice for you to drive slower as well, and it’s not advisable to increase your speed during these situations. If you do this, then you won’t have to apply your brakes too often, and unnecessarily. As such, this will greatly help to prevent any wear and tear on your brake pads.

3. Avoid using both the brake pedal and accelerator pedal at the same time

Stepping on two different pedals at the same time is not advisable. This is because it will cause wear and tear to your brake pads very quickly, especially if you apply heavy braking.

That’s why it’s good to apply the brakes only in the right situations, and use your accelerator pedal only in the right times, such as when you need to speed up. Constantly using both pedals at the same time will only damage your brake pads more.
